Top Canmore Spots for Foodie Staples

This post is for all the food lovers out there who like to hit up the best local shops for goodies to enjoy while on holiday. As locals, we have rounded up all the best shops to find cheese, fresh baking, drinks and everything in between. Enjoy them at your vacation rental, on a picnic or at the top of a mountain peak with breath-taking views!

Epi Canmore

A little French Country style bakery full of passion, great ingredients and warm greetings. Epi Canmore is a true gem loved by locals and tourists alike. The owner Chris (make sure you say hi!) is truly talented and invested in his craft. Chris grew up in France and learned from his grandmother at an early age. When he eventually settled in Canmore he found himself wanting to share his love of French bread and pastries. Once he opened Epi with his wife Monica, they quickly gained a huge following, you can find the place buzzing on any given day. What we recommend to take away on picnic or a hike; quiches, sanwiches, their delicious cardamom buns, cookies, croissants and sourdough breads all pack really well. If you’re staying in to eat; enjoy a fresh traditional galette (fancy name for buckwheat crepe), tonka bean latte and a fresh pastry (we really love the brioche/croissant wonders filled with pastry cream and fresh seasonal fruit!) Note they are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Le Fournil Bakery

Le Fournil was the first bakery to bring artisan sourdough bread to Canmore and has been a staple for many years. Known for their viennoiseries (croissants, danishes, pain au chocolat) and wonderful bread. You can also find some indulgent pastries, pre-made baguette sandwiches (we especially love the turkey cranberry) and other great options to take with you, The baguette sandwiches fit especially well in a backpack! They also feature a number of great local market items to complement your selections and inspire great meals at Revive! They tend to sell out early on busy weekends so be sure to go early if you don’t want to miss out! Note they are closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
